I went out to Petco yesterday and bought 2 convict fish for my turtle setup. They are about 2 inches big and I purposely bought fish that size to keep them from gettin eatin by my 3 res. By the way my 3 res are only about inch and a half. Anyways, the convict fish turned out to be the agressors. They continually nibbled and bit my turtles legs and tails. So my question is what would be a good community fish to have that won't try to eat my turtles?

Plecos might not be the most colorful or most entertaining type of fish, but I`ve had great luck with mine. I have plecos from 1" to 15" in size and haven`t lost a single one yet. I believe their skin is too coarse for the turtles. The fact that the plecos eat algae and keep my tanks cleaner is of course a good thing too.....

Funny you should mention that Marra. I too have some feeder fish that have become "friends" with my RES. It seems that if the fish survive for long enough, the RES let them live. Out of respect maybe? Every time I put a new fish in the same tank, the turts attack it instantly! Chez" How big/old are your frogs? I`m tempted to get some too. They seem fascinating.

lol, theyre not that fascinating. but fun to have. my frog is 4.5 inches when he stretches out his legs. hes a little over a year old. they can live up to 15 years and get close to six inches, so theyre good buddies in a turtle tank

Chez: Cool, I have to look into that. I`m going to a reptile show next weekend, so I`ll look around then. I know too well how you felt when you lost your RES now by the way. I lost my softshell just a few days ago. He was living in a tank all by himself, but it seems he scratched his shell by squeezing himself between his basking platform and the glass. He got all bruised up, got an infection and died shortly after......
