Hi there! I was cleaning out my filters yesterday, and i found blood worms in one of them. I live in FL and i keep "my little ecosystem" on my screened-in back porch; So, there is an enormous possibility that some swamp bug came and produced them. The pet shop guy seemed to think this wasn't that big of a deal, and asked if i even want to get rid of them. I did quite alot of reseach today that says that bloodworms are ok for fish and turtles to eat. But for some reason, i feel like they aren't good. Do you think i should get rid of them? Do you think my fish will carry them? I was about to give my Angel fish to a friend of mine, but i don't want to introduce some freaky parasite to her tank. BTW everyone is acting fine in the tank, there was a time that my danio's were looking a little off, but i think they were doing a mating dance. I haven't seen any sick looking fish, but i've seen LOTSA babies

It's not a good thing to have a colony of bloodworms living in your tank. They carry diseases that can easily effect your turtle's and fish's health. Yes, the fish will eat them, but it is best to clean out the tank entirely and get rid of the worms. You could always keep the worms in a different tank/container and feed them to your fish in small amounts. But as I said before, a colony of worms is no good.
