I was watching my to children and notice today they were going head to head and extending there front legs out and they were shaking them like they were playing patty cake or trying to do the turte version of the Dosey Do. Any one ever seen this before? It didn't look violent.

Any one ever seen this before? It didn't look violent. It sounds like it could be the mating dance. Do you have 2 male turtles? if so, they could be fighting. If its a female and a male then I would say the mating dance.

I have two males that do the exact thing. It was funny to watch at first. Now that their claws are longer (they're about a year old) I fear they're going to poke each other's eyes out! I do agree, with the previous post, I think it's fighting (of course if you have two boys like I do).

i though my dudes where gay at first since everyone said it was a mating dance i havent read to many studies on it, but what i've seen, they pretty much do it to anything they do it to females (they put there arms infront of them and viabrate them rapidly) and its a corpship(sp) (mating dance ) they also do it to other males, how i came across thinking my turts where gay lol, i've also seen them do it to just... objects, like if i put my figer to the glass they sometimes do it, seem one of them even do the shaking arms to the heating element so... hart to tell, but if anything, dont cut there nails, its like someone taking scissors and cutting off your fingers they need em
