One of my painted turtles decided to start something very annoying. (I don't usually find my turtles capable of doing annoying things, but this is.) She has suddenly noticed that she can reach the underside of the basking platform and "chew" at the repti-carpet. She's not actually getting any of it, but it makes an annoying noise like velcro being pulled apart.
I thought maybe she was looking for something green to eat so I threw in some green vegetables, but that didn't stop her. Has anyone else had this problem, or a silmilar one? Maybe its her way of asking that I upgrade their habitat.

Your turtle is looking for just anything to eat. They are constant scavengers. It is an instinct as in the wild, they have hard time getting enough food. They will try anything. I had a lose pick of silicone and he kept pulling it and I could hear it snap back. Drove me nuts. After a while, he got tired and just quit doing it.
What size is your turtle and the size tank? General rule is 10 gal. for every inch of turtle.
