Hello Everyone, My question is...how many crickets should i be feeding my turtle. She seems to prefer meat over vegetables. However, if i feed her as many crickets in 5 minutes i'll run out of them every day. She eats REALLY fast! I've been feeding her maybe 5 or 6 each time. Sometimes once or twice a day. Is this healthy? Will she be getting fat soon or am i starving her? I have no idea. I'd be grateful for any type of help. Thanks!

That amount of crickets seems good. But you should be feeding your turtle more then just crickets.
Try these foods:
Cooked Chicken Cooked ground beef Comercial pellets Earthworms Goldfish and guppies Fruit (apples, banana, strawberry) Veggies (carrots, romaine lettuce etc...)

I didn't know we could feed cooked chicken and beef. Wouldn't that pollute the water? and be bad for her digestive system? Although, she does seem to like worms...as long as they are alive ;D It seems she doesn't like dead food...except for pellets. Thanks for the advice!

Oh man, turtles love chicken and fish and meats. Yeah its a little messy, but other foods are plenty messy too. And its not bad for them, its good. I wish mine would eat more vegetables, the only veggie they seem to like is broccoli.

It is very important to vary the diet of the turtle to assure its overall health. Do not feed it just one sort of food! You can feed your turtle a variety of life foods, fruits and vegetables, one commercial food, and vitamin supplements.
Turtles of all ages must be provided with vegetables & fruits as a staple food item, because they contain fiber, essential vitamins, nutrients and trace elements that your turtle requires to stay healthy.
VEGETABLES
Romaine Lettuce Mustard leaves Leaves of Radish Collard Greens Tomatoes Carrot• Beetroot Turnip Sweet Potato [cooked - boiled/ steamed/baked] Beans Peas Pumpkin Squashes
FRUITS • Papaya • Mango • Water Melon ( Feed rarely) • Cantaloupe/Common Melon • Grapes (remove skin so its easier for them to pick at ) • Apple • Pear • Strawberry • Figs
WATER PLANTS Anacharis Water Lily Duckweed Water Hyacinth Hornwort
LIVE PREY • Feeder Fish ( guppies, rosey reds, goldfish( goldfish have very high fat content and should NOT be fed often ) • earthworms • mealworms • mosquito larvae • crickets • cockroaches • apple snails or other water snails ( if you get water plants you most likely will get some smails with them )
Getting Calcium • cuttle bone • Calcium Dusting ( you can crush cuttle bone for this) • Calcium blocks
Getting Vitamin A ( Great for eyes ..expecially if they are puffy) • green leafy vegetables • cabbage • carrot • squash • cod liver oil When you feed your bigger turtle, you want to give them a variety of food. Some of the vegetables they might not eat. Feed them a couple pellets, and greens. They may not eat them at first. put a leave of romaine lettuce on top of you tank water and let it float for a couple hours. Most of the water plants, they will eat. Feed every third day and just toss in leaf on none eating days.
Your baby will need more meat like fish, crickets, earthworms, mealworms. You should feed enough to fill the neck area up or what they can eat in ten minutes. Maybe feed fish and the next crickets or a half and ha;f mixture. Then the third day, pellets
