Hi all, great forum you have here I have recently been given a fairly young eastern long neck turtle from someone who couldnt be bothered looking after it (why I dont know he is so damn cute . Anyway the bowl they had him in had to go, so by another stroke of luck I was given a much larger aquarium by a friend. My question is how do I clean it to ensure it is safe for Tobias (cool name eh?) to move into. It is totaly glass, there is some black looking algae embedded in the glue (sealant?) that holds the glass togethor, and when I washed the aquarium with water and scrubbed the glass clean, it has a strong pond smell. So I guess what I am asking is how do I (If I need too) get rid of the algae and is there anything else I should do to get it sterile? cheers Maddy

Pet stores have "stuff" to clean Lime and other grime out of aqauriums. I wouldn't worry about the stuff in the sealant as long as you clean the tank often he shouold do fine. Any chemicals you do use make sure you read the instructions and rinse it for a LONG time.
