I've been thinking about it a lot and I definately want a tortoise. I'll be moving into my new house early 2003. What specie's do you recommend? I want something that will stay small. Nothing big like a sulcatta. Maybe a sulcatta depending on its growth rate. I need the most info i can get on them. I have some aquatic turtles so I'm a little knowledged on turtles requirements.

I suggest a Red Foot Tortoise. You can buy 1 or 2 inch hatchlings that are so cute. They will only grow up to about 20 inches, but thats over a matter of decades. You can keep the tortoise in an aquarium at first if you want to. Just make sure it has proper lighting, the same as a turtle, and a place to hide. I built mine a little home he can sleep in. Make sure that the tortoise has pleany of room to roam around. When he gets bigger you will have to build or buy him or her a bigger outdoor or indoor pen. That wont be for another year to year and a half depending on the size of your tortoise. They are a lot more expensive then turtles, but they are worth it. I would buy one from a reptile show rather than a store, because they are a lot cheaper. Good luck with your tortoise if you decide to get one.
