I have 6 box turtles and recently moved from CA where the adults lived in my yard year round, to keeping them in terrariums in Colorado this winter because I don't have any place for them to hibernate outside yet. I want to know if anyone can tell me if a ESU Reptile Bright Light 150 Watt spot incandescent full spectrum daylight heat lamp will supply the needed UVA light for one terrarium. The box says UVA wavelength range from 315 nm to 400nm. Is that adequate? Next question: I have a 6 yr old male who likes to stick something out of his tail while he's in the water. It is kind of spade shaped. Is that his penis? Or does he have a prolapse or something dreadful? He seems quite healthy, but I have never seen my older male (the father) do this. Thanks for your help turtle experts. Janet

I don't know if you have had an answer to your question yet but this forum has officially been abandoned. I would google "turtle forums" and ask them. It does sound like his little whatnot he is poking out but that may be a sign of something wrong which might be minor or major. best of luck with them.
