[glow=blue,2,300]I live in S.E. Texas where they've already destroyed the coastline and the Gulf water (the Gulf of Mexico is the most polluted ocean that borders the U.S.. I guess with all the dredging for oil and gas pipelines and the resulting pollution from the refineries, etc. (not to mention humans having no respect for the land) the ocean water is brown most of the time and you can't see 6" thru the water. The beaches have trash strewn along the shoreline and tarballs (or something). It starts to look better when you get to Galveston. Sabine Lake isn't much better. If you live downwind of the refineries you breathe smelly, polluted air. Luckily the prevailing winds put me upwind of the refineries most of the time. I still get to breathe the thick smoke from the marsh fires 3 or 4 times a year because some idiot threw a cigarette out a car window or wants to see pictures of his/her handywork in the local paper. I guess that's enough for now.[/glow]

Dianne confesses: <<Tiger Lady - do you mean I'm not the only person on this site over 30 (way over)? >> No you aren't! I tried to sneak in a reference to my age with my initial post in the General Turtle Discussion folder admitting that I came to own my dear little RES by way of my son who is off to college. In fact, I inherited all the pets through his urgings (so glad I said no to a snake! I'd be buying pinks instead of worms). Our household has always welcomed and loved pets; the more the merrier. I figured there was no age limit to this wonderful forum--just a love of turtles! I can't believe after 10 years with little Herm, I'm actually considering buying more! Eeek! What's happening to me?

I can't believe after 10 years with little Herm, I'm actually considering buying more! Eeek! What's happening to me? lol, happens to everyone. Once ya get a turtle, there is no way of stopping it (for the most part, heh). Now, its happening to you.. its finally kicking it. You are getting addicted to turtles and there is no way of turning back.

[glow=blue,2,300]Hey Turtlecrazed, I lived in N.C. for 16 yrs. First in Charlotte and then in New Salem (near Marshville). I didn't keep turtles when I lived there but I used to help them across the road so they wouldn't get hit by cars.[/glow]
